I have a 2003 RX 300 wth NAV. I suspect that my nav maps are the original maps from 2003. What is the easiest/most cost effective way to update the maps?
You might try contacting www.Lexus-Parts.com for the latest update (That's Sewell Lexus in Dallas). As one of our sponsor/vendors, they offer a discount to CL members.
Stay away from the Ebay offers - a good number of these are bogus (old discs, inop files, or pirate software), and it's difficult to determine which just by the listing.
BTW - don't get involved in pirate or "backup" discs. Sale or trade in these items constitutes theft and can land you in trouble with authorities (and for you lurkers out there, a ban from CL)!

I got my NAV update DVD from eBay and it worked well. You do need to be very careful, since most NAV DVDs on eBay are factory discs, not the special update version. You must get the update version. Be sure that the disc looks similar to attached (the one I bought for my RX300.)
Many people bought the factory discs on eBay and realized that they didn't work, so they just kept re-circulating them to other eBayers. Kinda funny.
How can you tell the difference between the discs? What version is yours? I was going to update mine (still running version 1). Do you have a part number?
Look at the bottom of the DVD disc. Only the update disc has that triangle with the exclamation mark. The factory-loaded disc has 9 rounded dots with DVD logo. Do a search on eBay, you'll see that 99% of the discs have that 9 rounded dots. Don't buy those. You cannot upgrade with those discs.
I don't have the part number handy, and am too lazy to pull my disc out. Sorry.
Just found the large photo image, here's the part number. Note it's 2003 database so it's outdated, but works for me. My 2002 RX300 came with 2000 database disc.
