Help - 2000 RX300 PCV Part No.
Hello,
Yesterday I picked up the PCV our local Toyota dealer (nearest Lexus dealer is 150 miles away) ordered for my 2000 RX300. I knew they had to call Lexus to get the part because they did not have part list for 2000 RX.
This morning I tried to replace the PCV and came to find out it is not the right part because the original one is threaded and this new one is a push-in type. The number on the bag says 12204-80020. Anyone knows what the correct part number is?
BTW, I did search the forum and did not have too much luck.
Thank you.

I picked up the PCV our local Toyota dealer ordered for me.
This is what the Toyota part guy told me:
He called Lexus yesterday and complained that they sent the wrong part. Lexus guy immediately told him he knew which part to send then. He said it is very commom that the valve covers were replaced due to some design issue (not a recall though). That is the reason why my 2000 model has the threaded PCV. I guess I have heard sluge issue on the engine, but have not heard that Lexus actually replaced valve cover and go with the newer PCV design. Anyone heard about this?
I bought mine about three years ago, it had about 50,000 miles.
I replaced PCV after dinner. Took me about 20 minutes. The old PCV appears to be functional (BTW, PN 12204-20040), but has certain degree of build-up (black/brown coating on the threaded end.
Thanks for the help guys.
Again, anyone knows anything about Lexus replacing valve covers?

I did the PCV in my 2000, at 75000 miles it was still in perfect working order, I say its not needed. I don't think there was any change due to sludge issues. The engine had larger oil / coolant passages in 2001 but no changes to valve covers for older models. If the sludge issue was such a concern I think more people on here would have had it, we've had our cars for 7 years.
sv650,
Glad to hear that you have the correct PCV valve installed on your vehicle. I had forgot to mention that the part number I quoted you was the threaded PCV valve. Sorry about that.
I replaced my PCV valve at around 33,000 miles about 2 years ago. I remember it being screwed on there pretty tight. Glad to hear everything worked out for ya.

EnzoRX,
Again, thanks for the help. I did assume you have a threaded PCV.
I am glad that Lexus knew which PCV to send the second time. It was not their fault.
Tammy and toy4two,
Thanks for your inputs as well.
