Default ABS light

Tomorow I have to go to Santiago. And I hope they can read the codes.
Or have a solution for the problem.
I come back to you later with the news. (good or bad)
And I will buy a OBDII anyway. If I can find a list somewhere which tells me what is mentioned with the fault number. But I think you have some ideas about that to.
Speak to you later.

Regards,

Wim

In general, you can just type the code on any search engine on the Internet and it will tell you what it is.

Specifically, if get any OBDII code, I can go over it with you for the RX.

For the ABS, if where you are going they can read the code with the Lexus scanner, it should be a DTC (unlike the OBDII) and I can help you with both.

Default ABS system failure

I found the problem myself on the ABS light.
I checked the contacts of the relay's (back to basics)
And there was some dust over the contacts of the green relay showed in the picture of the fusebox. This is the pick where you showed me the fuse for the ECI.
After cleaning this contact (the normaly open) I could even switch on and of the TRAC OFF again.

So I am happy I found something.

Ofcourse I have a other technical question.
What should be my stationary idling speed of the motor.
At this moment it is going up to 1500 rpm when the engine is cold.
And it will stay to 1300 rpm when the engine is warmed up.

Sounds this ok to you.

When you put the it into Drive, it should be 750 RPM normally.

I have had it go up higher due to my modifications and mine can sit at 1,000 RPM or a little higher when it is cool (but I am at higher altitude).

When my RPMS race too much (happens with certain weather), I just pull the EFI fuse out for a few seconds and reset everything and after drive it for about 30 minutes or so, idle usually goes back to normal.

Default EFI fuse

Hello Lexmex,

I will do this tomorow in the morning.
And I hope it will go back to the 750 rpm.
I let you know what the result is.

The Lexus made me happy but after understanding more and more it is a pleasure to own one.

I love Lexus. They are a challenge to modify, but it makes it a ton of fun. I find so many ways to enjoy my RX300.

One other possibility may be to clean the MAF sensor, which I show with the blue arrow.

Electrical contact cleaner is good along with the stuff used to clean computer keyboards and devices. (You may have use a similar cleaner on those contacts in the fusebox).

You can see the diode in there. Basically spray on this diode and you will find two holes the lead into the interior of the sensor itself. Spray in there, too, and let it dry.

One other thing, is that after you may have reset your system via the EFI fuse and/or the negative battery cable, as I mentioned earlier the weather patterns can have an effect and any wide variation can sometimes give funny idles.

I know from my U.S. colleagues, some experienced some strange engine RPM behavior after a recent heat wave there.

This earlier thread of mine shows the relevant areas of the MAF sensor that need to be cleaned,

One last area is spraying the entry to the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve).

You need to take off two hoses that run after the MAF (photo will be self-evident) and spray preferably with a carburator cleaner into the hole as shown.

I would spray in there for about 5 seconds reattach the hoses and start the engine and give it a little gas.

Default Cleaned everything

Hello Lexmex,

I cleaned all the parts as you said, but there is no change in RPM at start up.
The speed will come down but not under 1000 RPM.
I was reading a qoute from someone that after a while the RPM will come down again while the ECM should learn?

I hope that in one month (when I am back from a trip to Singapore) the car is acting as normal. The wife will drive it as much as possible.

By the way the car driving fantastic and no check engine lights any more.

Regards,

Wim de Kunder

That is true, the ECM should be accustomed to it.

Mine will at start up shoot past 1000 RPM and then come down to about 750 RPM on the idle after driving for a while and then say being at a stop sign, even with my new exhaust modifications. Though at night, I have noticed with cooler weather, the idle is higher, more oxygen content in the air.

I also have to keep in mind, this being cooler part of the year and you are closer to sea level in the Dominican Republic, also higher oxygen content.

For the time being, let's see the ECM reacts. I usually have to given my RX sometime with new modifications to get everything order.

One thing we can try if you still have the issue later is to adjust the accelerator cable slightly.
