Question

Sup all, i was wondering does anyone know how to use the Overdrive really well?? I know the basic comcept of how it works, but i would like to know how to use it to its full potiental would be good.

Also have anyone put any brush guards on their Rx300's yet? i was thinking about getting the Wagg front piece, rear bumper, and tail lights for 1000 with installation, is that a good price?? thanks

Overdrive is essentially gives you lower engine rpm / rotation of wheel [All gears do that heh heh] but this comes at cruising speed ... at the cost of lower power. So for normal driving keep the over-drive ON and enjoy better fuel economy.

If you are carrying heavy load and going over hills at say 55mph and the transmission constantly hunts [switches in and out of over-drive] you can FORCE the overdrive OFF.

Can some one answer this:

Does 4spd (auto) include Overdrive or it gives 5 gearing options with the over-drive?

thanks, i think its just 4 speed with overdrive, the rx only has 4 gears, it uses 3 gears while overdrive is off and then it uses 4 gears with overdrive on

spinteews is correct..........4 speeds only. BTW, in cooler weather you may notice that transmission delays shift to O/D when first driven. ECU does not allow shift to O/D until trans fluid is at approx 180degrees F. and it may take as much as a mile for temp to rise, depending on terrain around your home.

I have the brushguard and side tubes put on and am very satisfied with it. The picture is in the photo gallery under "Lexus full view". I purchased mine from unbanjunglesuv.com. The price was very reasonable, don't recall ~$700. Give them a call and compare.

No drilling for the brush guard, or side tubes. Screws onto the already predrilled holes which are covered by rubber caps in the frame.

TN3, any news on the back lights?

Thumbs up BRUSH GUARDS

Brush guards are fairly simple to install. I did it myself on my wife's RX SS. I found the best price at bestdarnparts.com. And no charge for shipping. Before iI installed them I checked out parts and installation at local specialty shop. They wanted about $850. I purchased front and rear WAAG for 6 and change. Hope this helps.

I installed the front guards myself. It helps if someone can assist in holding the piece. It took me about 45 minutes. You have to remove the existing rubber caps (pretty easy to find) to access the predrilled holes in the frame. The brush guards comes in 3 pieces. Installation is straight forward. There is enough room under the SUV to slide and do the work.

The side tubes are even easier. It took me about 10 minutes each.

Installation instructions come with the package. I bought mine from urbanjunglesuv.com. These are the WAAG brand. Price was pretty reasonable.

Good luck

I didn't care too much for the tail light guards, so I didn't install them. I can't remember if i was charged sales tax, I think so. But I checked out many sites and found bestdarnparts had best price. And I think all other places charged for shipping. Could add on ~$100 for shipping front and back.

If you have the altezza lights, do not put the tail guards!! (my opinion)
