NAV radio AF 'button'
I figure this has likely been answered, but I can't find said answer after a few searches, so, like the newbie I'm not, I'll ask again. Sigh...embarassing.
I've been through the owner's manual supplement for my wife's '02 RX300, and I'll be but it doesn't mention the AF 'button' on the radio screen. This is at the lower left of the NAV/radio screen after you push the real audio button.
What is this for? I played with it for about ten minutes last night here in Lost Wages, NV, but it could be whatever feature this enables/disables isn't available here in desertland.
Thanks!
On an unrelated note, I've found the fuel gauge is remarkably llinear, as I managed to put 19.2 gallons in the 19.8 gallon tank. It was dead-on "E", not an inch below as on most, usually American, autos. My Suzuki, sucky though it is, is very similar. When the needle is on the "E", you'd better have walking shoes on if you don't see a station.

Never mind, I found what it was. Someone here posted ages ago about it, this button allows the radio to effectively change stations when you encounter another one on/near the frequency you're already on. Interesting.

On the other hand there is an advantage in non-linear gauges. Who cares if the tank is 5/8 or 7/8 full ... it is more important to know if it is 1/8 or 3/8 full ... get my drift. Problem with other manufacturers is that the marking on the gauge is linear but the needle movement is not.

Oh, I'm all for non-linear gauges, if it's done intentionally. I recall seeing a gauge like this, I want to say it was a digital one which, when it got to 1/4, changed to a 1/4 to E gauge, using the entire range usually used for F to E. Might have been a dream, though.
