Question Question about steering wheel vibration at high speed

I own a '00 RX300 and it had been driving very good until I decided to give it a good service at the dealer. They rotated the tires as well and now I am observing a slight vibration in the wheel at around 70-80mph. I want to blast at them but would appreciate if someone can share their experience in this regard and where the problem might lurk given this symptom.

Thanks in advance!

if this happen after the tire rotation then it's your tire that's having uneven wear. What i'd do is just take it back to the dealer and have the tires rebalanced. once it's been rebalance the problem should go away. let me know if this help.

Welcome to CL.

The search option can yeild lots and lots of information .. generally much more than just a reply from a few.

As pointed out the problem is due to lack of dynamic balancing of the tires ... which happens due to non-uniform wear or loss of a balancing weight.

This is generally not a warranty item, and you can save money by going to a tire shop. If the problem persists after balancing may be the collective wisdom of the forum be of help.

Once again welcome. Hope you will stay and share your thoughts.

Thanks! Looking at my earlier record I think the uneven wear is the issue. BTW, is this uneven wear in itself something to worry about?

To avoid uneven wear, just remember to rotate the tires every 10000 miles or every third oil change. sometimes the wear can be due to worn shocks/struts, allignment, camber...a myriad of things. but if you rotate the tires often enough, all the tires will have the same wear so there can't be uneven wear . if you hear a whistling noise when driving then it can be uneven thread wear due to bad suspension (shocks/struts) since one part of the tire has more thread than the other. to test allignment just drive on a clean road that's straight and let your hand off the steering wheel, if it takes less than 30 second to change lane left or right then you have a problem with allignment, if it's more than 30 seconds then you are within specs and no need for an allignment. hope this helps, let me know.
