From time to time, I will post on products I find for the RX300 on the net that have not seen previously discussed or well-discussed on Clublexus.

Was looking at a few products in the past week:

Toyota T-Stat (I ordered this from Carson Toyota L-Tuned Parts last Saturday)
http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=488
I have read that at the higher RPM band this might make 1 hp difference (basically when your hauling) I think this goes along with getting the Tom's Radiator Cap (which I have), though I have heard TRD makes their own, too
http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=341

OBX Air Intake
http://www.obxracingsports.com/perfo...D=3&subcatID=7
They do list an RX300 application for 2000+ (would figure 99s would work)
Not sure how those 2 pieces in the picture would properly fit in our engine compartment, looks like one of those AEM or FIPK kits from K&N. Anybody see a MAF sensor holder?

Tom's Tec-2
http://www.tomsracing.co.jp/e/product/engine_tec2.htm
The other day in the Max Speed of your RX, we were discussing and engine management system and I suggested the eManage system from Greddy. Well I found this device from Tom's on their Japan site (with somewhat difficult English translation). Under the application guide they show Harrier. I may be not completely on target about this, but I sort of remember that the Harriers in the Far East have different engine sizes in some cases and lower hp. However, they show on their Fitting Charts that it fits the Harrier 3.0 from 1997-2000.

I'd like to find out more about the TRD T-stat. I've been thinking about getting one for my ES, but my buddy warned me against it. He's a big 4ag guy, and apparently the word around those parts is that in everyday driving it does more harm than good. He claimed the t-stats were dropping temperatures way too low. Anyone have info on how they do in the 1MZ?

I heard it wasn't dropping enough or did not do much, but I will let the RX forum know once I get it installed what my observations are. I figured this might help me in drag racing as my car gets hot sitting in line while waiting to race.

Lexmex, have you looked into getting a set of new rims and tires to reduce unsprung weight to get more hp to the wheels? You may get better gain than a T stat

It is on my list, but only after the car goes back to the U.S. permanently given the bad roads and streets down here. Even if the roads and streets were paved with gold, the prices are astronomical down here for rims and tires.

You are right it certainly would help.

With the T-State, let's take a look what I, the guinea pig, uncover.

Here is a link to list aftermarket rim weight . I plan to upgrade to 5zigen 18 inch and a light weight performance tire. I used to be interested in 20 inch rims but they probably hurt acceleration but they do look cool.

Since I plan to replace coolant before the summer, TRD T-stat is going into my RX. Lower the opening temperature by 10-15 degree gives RX's cooling system a head start for high temp, which should be a good thing since 1mz-fe is notorious for running too hot of cam temperature.
I have Mugen T-stat for my Acura for almost two years w/ good result. This dropping temperature too low is more of urban legend because below 71 degree F everything is the same as OEM t-stat: no matter of which brand, T-stat is closed . Only difference is the top end, which the RX needs help to cool down.

It will be interesting to see the effects at sea level the T-Stat has compared to what I observe up here at 7,000+ feet.
