Anyone out there experiencing a rattle in the passenger door? Got my 2001 RX in January and almost from day one started experiencing this annoying rattle. Not too loud, but annoying. Seemed to happen whenever I was on pavement which would cause even the slightest vibration in the vehicle. Had the dealership look into it during my 1K check-up and they couldn't reproduce it. Finally took it back in and scheduled a drive with the mechanic so he could hear it firsthand. Was able to reproduce it for him (barely) so he basically took the door apart and put it back together again. It's much improved now, but it still happens occasionally. Interestingly, the 2001 RX loaner they gave me when I had the repairs done did the same thing! Just curious if I just happened to drive the only 2 RX's in the world with that problem!

We have/had the same problem pretty much. Ours rattles by the corner of the door toward the window and the part that opens out (that you can see easily). My mom started noticing it when she would go like 40MPH on a semi bumpy road to work. I noticed it (sitting there) listing to the radio when it would hit a beep bass note. We went to the dealer and they couldn't find it ether. So one day I just hit it really hard with my fist a few times and it's pretty much gone. By the way we got ours in February.

Thanks, LeXusBoy. Having the same problem with the loaner pretty much convinced me that it must be a fairly common problem, and now it really seems that way. Maybe I should try the "closed fist" approach myself next time it acts up!

Same thing happened to me just on the drivers side. 1000 mile check up they found a little piece of plastic in the door.

Rufus,
After reading your post I also heard what I thought was a rattle in my front passenger door. This rattle only appeared over bumps. After searching for about 2 minutes I traced the rattle to the digital tire gauge that I store in the glove compartment. Who thought?
Good luck getting rid of the rattle,
Coach

The seat belt buckle on the passenger sometimes is known to twist and hit against the side panel, causing this noise. Try to see if this is the problem.

Malhokc, yep, I experienced the same thing thing with the passenger seatbelt within a week of taking RX home, but that's another problem altogether, and was easily corrected. As I said, my rattle is much less frequent and quite tolerable since they took the door apart. It was driving me crazy before that. I hope the power of suggestion doesn't start people hearing rattles just because I brought this up!

Thanks!

My new 2001 has that rattle too! If I grab the door handle and gently pull and push, as if opening and closing the door, (with the door closed), It makes the noise because the panel is slightly loose. The other panels are rock solid. Try and pull the handle back and forth and let me know if you hear it too?

thx
