Hi all,

My RX300 is at 30K and my Toyota mechanic buddy told me that I needed a class C service. He said that I should change the following:
- oil & filter
- air filter
- coolant
- transmission fluid

Is there anything else that needs to be done?

Also, would the Toyota Highlander parts be an exact replacement for the above parts ( oil filter & air filter) or do I have to purchase them from Lexus?

Thanks.

Also brake fluid for 30K.

The filters are identical. The Lexus filter costs more because it has the Lexus logo on it.

The local Toyota dealer ordered a Lexus part number cabin air filter, and it came in a Toyota box, and was $12 cheaper than the same filter in the same Toyota box from the Lexus dealer. Where are you getting "Lexus-branded" filters?

Ok, anyone has the Toyota part number for the air cabin filter? I am looking to place a parts order on Monday for all the parts from Toyota.

And just to recap, all the Highlander parts would work perfectly, right? So I can order the parts for a 2002 Toyota Highlander and they would work in my 2002 RX300, right?

Thanks.

Yes, the Highlander and the RX are practically the same vehicle. They have the same powertrain.
A Lexus is a Toyota with a fancy label. Open the hood - you'll see "Toyota" everywhere.

I was talking about the oil filter. I used to get my oil changed at Lexus and the filter had Lexus logo on it. Now I go to a Toyota Express Lube and the filter has Toyota logo.

The cabin air filter has no logo on itself as far as I can remember.

Having just gone through this, I can tell you that an '04 Highlander cabin air filter and an '04 RX 330 air filter are not the same. The Highlander filter is a cheesy white material, while the RX filter is a tightly woven gray corrugated filter. It's $46 at my local Lexus dealer, but I was able to have the Toyota dealer order the exact same filter for $36.

are you sure about Lexus-badged oil filters? The ones I ordered from Sewell are Toyota-badged. I should pay a visit to the local Lexus dealer to see if this is true...
