It's a Toyota part and you can actually pick one up from the Toyota dealership for less money then buying one from Lexus and install it yourself - it's relatively easy. I just changed mine and for the life of me I cannot remember if it was a charcoal filter, but I don't think so. I believe it is a particulate filter.

That is subject to debate... First, I would recommend calling your Lexus parts dept and ask them if it is a charcoal filter. If it is, it's moot. While your at it, ask him/her for the part number so if you choose you can pick one up from Toyota. Personally, I would stick w/the OEM filter whether it's charcoal or not. BTW, if you don't want to replace it yourself Toyota will also do that too for a lot less money.

Let me know what the dealer says and whether it's charcoal, because it's killing me that I cannot for the life of me remember.

I did call Lexus of englewood in NJ and at first the parts guy did not know and told me to wait and came back and said yes it is a charcoal filter you figure it is a Lexus so it should have a better filtewr according to what I have read about them just now. They elminate a lot of the foul smell from the outside according to the Bosch website.

Both are available. IIRC, they come stock w/ a Charcoal filter. However, on one of my service visits they replaced my charcoal one w/ a particulate filter...

Here's a link where you can buy either online
