replacing a knock sensor on a 3.0 L engine
Hi guys,
Does anybody know if there is a short cut when replacing a knock sensor on a 3.0 L engine ? Where are actually those two sensors ? Intake would really have to come off, or there is a short cut but tools and gadgets would be needed ? Which one is it ?

OK , job done, no short cuts. Not on this one. If you were to replace knock sensors, you'd really have to come all the way. It's not a matter of tools or knowledge, nor it is a hands-on subject. You've got to go all the way down, to the very bottom of the 'V'.
As for owners with check engine light ON and reported knock sensors in memory - beware (of bad minded mechanics). It turns out to be what we call in the industry 'a gravy job'. You drive in a dealership for something else, the day after you end up with a MIL ON. You go back to the place, they tell you 'Oh....it's the knock sensor. This normally costs about $400 in parts and 3.0 hours in labor'.
What it is in reality, the bad mechanic unplugs the wiring harness for the two sensors and ......the codes are there. Then, if you say yes on their offer, they just plug it back in ...........and Merry Christmas. Chances are the customer can never see sensors were replaced or not.
