What a great forum for Lexus owners!

I'm looking for help/pictures of people that have put in after market DVD Navigation systems into their RX300's. I have a 2002 RX300 w/o Nav, and want to add. My local dealer told me a factory unit is not an option as it requires a totally new dash board.
I'm sure someone out there has had my problem, what to do?

Welcome!

Someone recently posted the same question and I found a few threads for him using the search feature of our forum (click here to go to that post).

salavage
you could hit up the Toyota / Lexus salvage yard. Strip it out and put it in.

COSTCO also sells a portable Garmin unit.

If you have a laptop you can get a wireless GPS for under $100 and it doesn't have to live in the car.

I actually like the Magellan units over the Garmins.

I use a PDA (Toshiba 805) unit with a gps compact flash card.
It is good in the fact it can look to your Microsoft outlook addresses or you can key in address and route your destination.
There are several different types of mounts, but I found my PDA rest great in the lip of the ashtray lid.
Granted it is not as good as the factory unit, but it does a decent job.

I run the Magellan Roadmate 700 in my Tribute. Works very well with the roof mounted magnet antenna. It is very comparable to the 330's Navi.
