I had this weird issue come up yesterday with my 1999 RX 300. I was driving back and people behind were honking. I realized later that the tail lights were out. There is no indication on the instrumentation panel. I am thinking this can't be a fuse issue. Any ideas ?
The circuits are separate at the switch (stalk) for auto and non-ato position. I suspect a loose connector or a bad switch (inside stalk). Did you have any work done in the stearing area?
