Default 2000 RX300: Automatic Door Lock

I've just bought a 2000 RX, and noticed the doors do not lock automatically upon shifting into "D" or beginning to drive. Is it normal?

Yes, that's normal.
The automatic locking feature didn't come out until the '04 RX330.

Default Auto lock

I have this on my company car and think it is more of an inconvenience than a convenience.

You can always manually push the autolock button on the driver's door if security is an issue..

And thank God.

Personally, I hate that feature and am very happy it isn't on any of our cars.

If you really, really hate it, it's C-BEST configurable on the RX330.

Lexus, in my opinion this is a valuable security feature that should have been offered in the 300, wasn't it at the same time in the ES, et al.?

A good way of securing one's vehicle is to keep the doors locked and the best way in my opinion is to auto-lock them, I really want this feature.

Please keep it on all of your Lexus cars, if a user doesn't want it they can unset the C-Best setting.
