Love the RX300 and remember the first one, first gen too.
Now that I hit the 200k mark she just up and died on me. I can't seem to find a way resuscitate my poor baby because she won't go into gear. Solenoids? All good..fluids? All good..nice n pinkish..still nothing..and trying to find a solution that isn't 2 grand? Well that's what brought me to you guys..I read a whole bunch of posts and decided I liked what I heard and how it was conveyed. Pleasant and caring right from the start wether gleeful to be cruising in style or like me..looking for a way to get her back in motion. I tried the ads and found nothing but brokers hacking used transmissions for over 1000.00..crazy.right? But some people said they had some luck with Lexus as the dealership and dealing directly with the companies that supply the actual transmissions they use..I saw Sewell and Kyushu and car-part.com.
I am grateful for your time and efforts. Please let me know your thoughts on what you would do in my situation. I drive 800 miles one way every 2 months or so from SC to Ohio and then to NY and then back to either one. I simply can't afford a 3500.00 or more in repairs. But I'm also confused about what is the deal with compatible units that may give me a bigger pool to work from. Mine is FWD. I believe it's the U140E based on what I found in these forums. It would be awesome to have a list of the other brands and models that used the same transmissions. I'm mechanically inclined but getting older and don't have a lift etc.I can't see myself hoisting a motor and transmission from a tree lol So please let me know your thoughts and currently I'm in Ohio and heading back to SC in 2 weeks and have a hitch on my car that could handle the weight of the transmission if I found one here or on the way back to SC which is where the RX is now..Greenville SC to be exact. Thanks for allowing me to join you guys and I will be positive and uplifting no matter what happens with my RX.
Gratefully yours..O.S.65

Is the issue ... Shifter stuck or the softer can be moved to all positions PRNDL and transmission responds accordingly but does not shift into proper gears in D when driving. Or transmission shifts through gears but does not get into overdrive.
Any OBDII codes [Check engine light on?]
I think you are already on to the cost of transmission repairs or replacement. This may be the right conclusion, but we are not sure of the problem.
If you are looking for replacement, do not look for might-fit/potential match. Everything is cast aluminum (alloy) and being a FWD all holes must match.
