Default Stepped hat rotors

Brought some like new rotors off a 2002 Camry for my 99 RX300 and realized that the rotors hats are not stepped. The RX300 has stepped hat rotors. What's the purpose for the step on a rotor and I'm assuming they won't fit the Lexus? Has anyone tried using non stepped hats and they work just fine?

If you are talking about front rotors then according to RockAuto the Durago BR3126602 fits both a 1999 RX300 and a 2002 Camry. There are other front rotors that are listed for both cars too

Rears don't look like a match

The rear brakes have different hat depths on different models of RX300 models and harriers. The rear park brakes are drum inside the hub of rear. The hat depth could be between 40mm - 65mm. The rx300 is a pretty loose term so make sure you measure before you end up with the ornaments i will eventually sell.
