Default Remote Start For Free

I bought my 2019 RC-F this June. Up until today i was convinced that without Enform, remote start does not work. I was wrong and so was the internet. It does not work from the App, but it still works from the fob. For sugars and giggles I tried it five minutes ago and it worked. Just wanted to clear that up if anyone else was wondering.

Must be a newer model year (2018+) thing. What steps did you follow? I will try it out, but I am skeptical it will work on my older model year.

Press the lock button 3 times. Hold on the 3rd press and the car starts.

Works on my 2021. Thanks, not that I need a remote start, but always cool to find out new stuff.

It only works when the function is unlocked with enform. Shortly after cancelling your enform subscription it will stop working.
im hoping someone will eventually hack this for us all.
Personally, I think Lexus should unlock it and that consumers have a claim to be had that we purchased the vehicle with its equipment and the manufactures should not have the ability to restrict us from utilizing functions we paid for in the price of the vehicle.

I have bad news for you. There are plenty of appliances that people own that do this exact same thing. The manufacturer makes one product and disables features through software and sells the different options to make their money and save on production costs. It is a very common practice.

If you are interested in the remote start on the older models, you can buy this https://www.12volt.solutions/search?...f&type=product

Nothing I was concerned about or needed/wanted when I bought my car.

I'm pretty sure that around 2018 or 2019 Lexus started including 3 years of Enform vs the 1 year trial available back in 2015. Try again some time 36 months after the date of first use (can be found under vehicle specifications on the Lexus Drivers website), and let us know if remote start with the key fob is still working.

Good thing is, you can still have a subscription after Oct, 2022 which is when it gets disabled on all 15-17 models.

I looked it up and you're correct. Starting in 2018 the Enform trial is 10 years. But I still think locking away features on a $60K+ coupe is a bit greedy.

2018 and 2019 Lexus have the overhead "SOS" Safety Connect and fob three press Remote Start free for 120 months, 10 years.
Phone "Lexus App" was comp for 12 months and can be subscribed for $80/year if you want to find, follow, monitor, start, lock, schedule.

2016 and 2017's had everything free for 12 months and nothing will connect after Halloween 2022 when the 3G towers shut down.

2020 and on have everything free for 36 months and the phone app And the fob press will be $80 for the SC plus $80 for RS = $160/year.

totally agree there. No reason it should be tied to a subscription. I was looking around on how to add remote start to an Avalon I just picked up for daily duty and it appears this is a uniquely toyota thing. Entune subscription needed for remote start on newer models (with it being free for 10 years also). One nugget of info I noticed on the Toyota site was that they say the logic was modified on pre-2018 cars so that an active subscription was no longer needed for remote start to work. Wonder if this applies to lexus also? Despite the Enform/Entune branding, they both use SafetyConnect services.

My wife's nissan doesn't have this requirement, and the truck stays running when you open the door... like literally every other car that isn't a Toyota/Lexus.

That's not correct with 2020's. I just got an email indicating my subscription trial is ending this month. I bought my 2020 this time last year.
See screen capture:

My wife's 18' NX also ended the remote start after one year. The safety connect is what lasts a long time for Lexus but most everything else dissapears unless you pay for the subscription.

I installed the above 12v solutions remote start in both my wife's NX and my RCF. We can remote start the car with OEM fobs with 3 locks. just like OEM. Except never have to pay a stupid fee. It's mind boggling that Lexus charges to remote start. I 100% agree and understand if you want to use your phone to start the vehicle, but we should ALL be able to remote start the vehicle with the OEM keyfob with OUT enform. It's so stupid that they tie remote start into Enform.

12v solutions remote start. 100% plug and play.
