Default RR Racing RT Coilovers

Got the front struts removed in anticipation of my RR Racing coilovers arriving tomorrow.

I’ll post some more pics once completed.

Time for a beer 🍺

Nice picture. Would be good to see how it turns out. RCF does not have struts, BTW. RCF has shock absorbers as part of the double wishbone for better handling. Struts are typically cheaper, but inferior design wise). Macpherson struts are a good example of that.

Aye, thank you for the clarification Rolla. I always just call them struts lol.

You theoretically could call them coilovers since they are neither outright shocks nor are they part of a McPherson strut setup. I personally call them shocks and springs as in my mind the term 'coilover' is always an adjustable aftermarket shock and spring, and partly because saying 'the OEM coilovers' sounds pretty strange...

I would assume removal wasn't too difficult?

That makes sense too. Super easy removal. 15-20min a side.

Got them installed last night. Overall pretty straightforward. Nice quality (Road and Track Version with standard 16k/14k). They are noted to come preset for optimal ride height but the rear was pretty slammed on initial install, tucking most of the tire which is not my cup of tea. Fronts were perfect so I didn’t have to tweak those. Adjusting ride height is easy and no different than other coilovers setups.

I wrapped up around 9pm last night so headed to Chic Filet to grab a bite and obviously for an initial test drive. No clanking or anything of the sort so I didn’t miss any bolts lol. Suspension bushings were unloaded/preloaded before torquing everything down to specs. Initial thoughts, car is more planted. Ride is def different, firm but not bouncing out my seat hitting the roof firm which I’ve experienced in years past with other coilovers. The spring rates seem to be on point as the car is not floaty or soft, nor it is it overtop in firmness. I’m far from a suspension expert but have always lowered my cars in the past. This far surpasses any setup I’ve had with overall quality and ride given my short amount of time with them installed.

I’ll be clocking some more miles on them this weekend on the back roads to throw it around a bit and get a better sense of it all. Once I’m certain the ride height is where I want it (pretty sure I won’t change) and get some miles on them, I’ll set up an alignment.

Excellent. Can't wait to hear what you think. I've been considering them for a while.
