Key card and shank question
So I ordered a key card and shank from Lexus of El Monte who have been so great at making sure I got the right part.
They told me my card has been delivered but the shank is on back order and may not be available until next week.
Do I need the shank to get the key card programed? Can I get my key card programed this Saturday then go back and get the shank? Do they need to cut the shank? Do I even need the shank?
Any advice is appreciated. 👍🏻

You can have it programed just fine without the key. I didn't get the key with mine earlier in the spring, and only ordered the shank this week because I got locked out. Car stops scanning for keys after a few days to save the battery apparently. Had to go grab the regular fob with an unlock button. Would've sucked if car was at the airport for a week.
Any place that cuts keys should be able to do the shank part, don't need the dealer for that.
