Default 2015-2019 vs 2020 model years.

Hello, so I know that in 2020 model year got a facelift and it got 5 extra horsepower. But what made it get 5 extra horsepower? What changes were made to the engine? I know they made the axle drive ratio higher and they added hollow half-shafts to it, and changed some parts out for carbon fiber and aluminium for weight reduction. Also, I would like to know the alignment differences (if there be any) between the 2015 model year and the 2018 model year. I know that in 2018, the suspension got AVS, and in 2020 they changed some bushings for the rear suspension and for the steering rack. If someone could show the differences in between the 2015 and 2020 suspensions (or alignment papers) that would be helpful. I've seen the 2015 RC F alignment already however. Also, if you have any info what changes happened between the 2015-2017 model years (also if any alignment changes happened in those 2 years) that would also be helpful. Thanks!

Here's an old thread. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rc-...r-changes.html

AVS also started in 2017.

Differences were minimal between 2015 to 2019. I never drove another RCF. Not even an LSD RCF. However, I have heard it drives basically the same in all of these years with minor tweaks. The AVS in it's stiffest mode feels similar to the 2015 - 2016 RCF fixed suspension. Same two trim levels of carbon/TVD or LSD through these years. However, the AVS has 30 levels of dynamic adjustment even in the stiffest settings.

2020 has some decent refresh. TVD is a stand-alone option now, carbon fiber model can be purchased with LSD, the engine updates were minimal for the 5 HP probably at the ECU level. Pre-2019, RCF in Europe/Asia was rated at 471 HP/391 ft-lbs or 477 PS. Now, in 2020 RCF has 472 HP/395 ft-lbs or 481 PS. So there must have been a minor tweak. Molten Pearl was discontinued after 2016 and replaced with the yellow color. Liquid platinum was changed to atomic silver in 2017, I believe.

Gearing has been revised to be a bit shorter with final drive going from 2.93:1 to 3.16:1, which is good since Lexus gave it a high redline, but kept same gearing as the ISF had. Tires have been changed from Michelin Pilot Super Sport to Pilot Sport 4S.

Track edition has more carbon fiber pieces, LSD, lighter wheels, CC brake from LFA, interior has some luxury items removed, suspension same except damper recalibration, weight reduction etc. Cheers!

Alright, so I would assume Pilot Sport 4S's would still fit on a 2015-17 RC F, right? Not gonna lie, I think a fixed suspension would be better than AVS because you can sort of 'learn' the car. With AVS, the suspension does a whole bunch of stuff, so you can never truly 'know' the suspension. And, I didn't read about the TVD being a standalone option now. I guess the late 2015-2019 model years all have the TVD with a Perf package. The TE is a beast, with the best power to weight ratio in its class. They got something going with the TE in my opinion!

Yes, that might be true. 20020 RCF can come with TVD alone. 99% of the 2015 - 2019 RCF got TVD as part of the CF performance package.

There's a TON of 2015's for sale without the Perf Package. I guess that in late 2015- 2019 models also got the Performance package WITH the Premium Package, because last year I went to Lexus' website, and it seems as if when you would select the Perf Package, it would give an error saying you needed the Premium Package in order to have the Performance Package (and with the Perf comes the TVD of course).

I personally don't like TVD and prefer a mechanical or traditional LSD. Is the LSD on the Track Edition the same as the LSD on the pedestrian RCF?

Yes it is the Torsen because of weight reduction, Official explanation is, TE is close to a perfect 50/50 compared to 47/53 for the CF/TVD and 46/54 for the LSD RCF.

If I did pull the trigger on a track edition, the first thing I would change is the Torsen for an OS Giken. I wouldn't even hesitate for a moment, warranty be damned!

According to my Product Information PDF, it says the base RC F was 55/45 weight dist, while the brochure says something like 54.6/45.4 or something, but it seems like the rounded it up to 55/45.

The magazine tests were 46/54 for the LSD RCF.

^^^^I've been around a long time and I have never seen the weight distribution percentage for a motor vehicle list the rear number first
