Default Used RCF in a accident

What is everyone's thoughts on buying a used RCF that has damaged reported on the carfax report? Is there any way to see what exactly the accident was?

I personally would stay away from it since one can find much better one's especially in the US? I waited almost a year to find the right car in pristine condition (only 8000 miles) with the specs I wanted. My thinking was, if I am spending that much money on a car then I need to stretch the buck as far as I could even if it meant I had to wait a long time.

In the US, there is a lot more inventory available so one can find a better one with patience.

You can probably find out what the repair was, where it was done and what it cost. But I agree, unless you can determine that it was a real minor incident, there are other cars out there that might be better for you. And keep in mind, that if you buy this car you will be saddled with the accident rerecord when you eventually sell it. In some cases you may even have a problem buying insurance on this car.

But having said the above, I had a door ding about the size of a dime with paint damage and a body shop wanted to paint half the car to blend in the repair at a cost of about $2,500 and then filed a carfax "unrepaired damage" report when I did not have the work done, which causedjust a little problem when trading it in. And how did they even know that I didn't have it repaired somewhere else?

The only way I'd buy a car that has a damage report on Carfax is if I inquire/investigate and find out that it was a scratch to a plastic panel (front or rear bumper) and was repaired at a Lexus body shop. and to top it off, I'd buy it for a good deal. That's literally the only way I'd consider this scenario and that's if I really want that specific vehicle. If not, I'd just wait for a fully clean one to come up....

Simply put, not worth the hassle on a car that is in this price range. Leave it to the uneducated consumer.
