The Honda Civic Type R is no slouch I know many will bash it because it's a "Civic" and "FWD" but a 7:43.8 around Nurburgring is impressive imo. Driver skill will also be a factor regardless of car.

I would take a LC500 over the Honda in a blink of an eye. I mean come on, that is a ridiculous match up. One of the finest luxury coupes ever made, compared to a racer hot hatch. What next, a Prius versus a F150?

Here we go again, How many time do Lexus have to say it, the LC500 is a luxury coupe grand tourer, NOT a track sports car, put the Honda type R up against the new lexus RC-F track edition which has been designed for track purposes and let see what happens.

I own both a current gen civic Si and an RCF - its fun to watch an economy based car run such times against a more powerful car but as many have said there is no question what I would rather drive each day. I used to prey on non M BMWs in my WRX back in the day. It was fun for me, embarrassing to some of them but they still had a nicer car. It's all about what you want - no one is cross shopping these cars. You want a track car with good mileage and a manual trans - get the honda. You want beauty, comfort and raw power - get the lexus.

Side note - with or without carplay (which my honda has) I greatly prefer its infotainment over the Lexus.

At the end of the day we're still driving a Lexus. I didn't buy my car because I thought it was the fastest car on the street. But performance was definitely one of the factors. That being said I have obliged every person that has tried to race me unless there was traffic, police, or I had a passenger like my mom in the car. Yet, I still haven't lost in 3 years. If you don't count one time it was pouring with rain, I needed new tires, and I got smoked from the light by a turbo diesel 4x4, lol. The closest real race I had was with a SRT or Scat Pack Challenger (it was dark). We ran dead even from the light up to 100 mph, at which point they let off the gas. Most attempted races are people who try to get the jump on an unsuspecting RC F so they can say they beat one. I'm a very alert driver though and I usually see them coming before they try it and love dropping the hammer on them and leaving them behind.

I know there are some cars out there that can beat me, and even fewer drivers. But it's so rare to meet them on the street. I don't track my car so I can't comment on that. My RC F does exactly what I bought it for, and very few cars grab attention like the RC F. Nothing cheaper can grab more attention in stock form, that's for certain.

LOL Of course. It is the carbon edition RCF I just posted it since it was an interesting example as Christian Menzel is a retired race car driver so it was interesting to see the fast lap.

Likewise, I also wish I could understand what Christian was saying.
