Interested in a coilover upgrade, suggestions would be helpful!!!
So i'm in the market for a new set of coils for the F, preferably with a swift spring upgrade! I've been modding my car for a little while now and i've been doing some research about which coils I want for my car and i've narrowed them down to 3. 1) BC coils with a swift spring upgrade about $1,200-$1,400, 2) KW V3 Coils about $2,500-$3,000, and 3) CKS True coilover set up with Swift spring upgrade about $1,900-$2,200. I have BC in there because of the great reviews, price is spectacular, and the optional swift upgrade. KW V3 because of the great build quality and reputation of being one of the top coils money can buy. CKS is fairly new and there isn't much information about these for the RCF but i've read some great things about them on the GSF forums. Not only do they have an optional swift upgrade but they're also a true coil set up with the coil set up going inside the spring rather than separate. From what i've read, the key spring rate is with 14k-Front/10k-Rear so that is what I am going to go with, if not a little softer. I'm not a race car driver and i'm not getting these for the track. I use my F for city driving, occasional canyons runs, and some street races. I'm looking for a more comfortbale ride rather than stiff sporty ride. I am content with the current way the car feels but I want to upgrade but more importantly get rid of that wheel gap. I HATE the wheel gap I have now, so i'm also thinking of just running swift springs and upgrade to coils later that are compatible with the springs. It would be great if anyone that has experience with coils on their F could chime in and give some feedback!! I've never owned a car with coilovers so this is ALL new to me. I appreciate it in advance! Thanks
First off springs meant to go with the stock shock are going to be much different from the dedicated coilovers springs, even if both are made by swift, it doesn't mean they are the same part matched to different shock characteristics... so you will be repaying for them going to all new hardware anyway if switching to coilovers later. Might as well do it right and once.
If you like the current ride comfort I would consider BC or KW, as I understand they can get tune down to just about as soft a ride as stock... I would stay with the OEM spring and shock orientation layout those two coilover packages follow as well, as changing to within coilovers in back changes where the loads were engineered into the chassis, and there is nothing wrong with the OEM chassis in these cars for sure.
First off, to the OP, some terminology here. The full name for coilovers is coil springs over shocks. So coilovers by definition include springs. BTW, the RCF standard suspension is coil springs over shocks.

The rear suspension has a separate spring and shock/damper setup. One thing to note when going to a "true" coilover setup in the rear, is, you will lose some wheel clearance inboard, important when going with wide aftermarket wheels (11.0"-up)
Also, Ohlins and Penske make awesome coilovers for the RC-F.
Did you get coilovers? What did you go with? How did it turn out?
I am considering them also. I really wasn't planning to change up the suspension, but the stock rake and front wheel gap keep bugging me. I don't want to go with lowering springs, I prefer having the ability to change height. I don't think the rear needs to come down much and most springs lower it 1".
Does anyone know how much you can lower the rear without needing camber arms? Is there a solution for front camber?
I just wanted to point out that this thread is generally one of the first props of google when we are searching about coilovers for the Lexus RCF. Could be a great place for sharing your experience.
If you aren't balling on a budget and depending on how you're driving your car, Penske will far surpass KW's. KW V3's aren't even the top contenders in terms of tier. They are the equivalent to our Road & Track suspension, yet we give you the option of custom spring rates for your car. We've also tested them on the street as well as the track.
Take a look and let me know what questions you have.
