Warranty VOIDED- Resonator delete
Deleted resonator two years ago. O2 sensor went out last month Lexus fixed with no problems. Check engine light now on for Cat 1. No symptoms or performance lagging.
Lexus says they won't even try to solve the problem because the warranty is voided due to resonator delete. Quoted $2800 to replace Cat 1. Ha. But first wanted $3500 to 'restore' exhaust ie..$40 job of resonator being welded back on.
Should I delete the Cat and be done?
Should I just buy a performance Cat and replace?
How do I test to see if it is nothing or an easy fix?
Thanks!

You're talking about Cat 1 on the headers, right? Maybe the O2 sensor for Cat 1 is bad again? If no other symptoms or other consequences, how about RRRacing's $500 tune just to take away the CEL from cats? Then, if you want to upgrade your headers later, you're good to go.
they can go bad

Use a code scanner and PM me the exact code you are getting, we will help you in any way we can.

OP, too bad to hear about your situation though shouldn't the dealer "prove" beyond a reasonable doubt that the O2 sensor failure was caused by the res-delete? Was there a reasonable "cause-effect" explanation provided. I've serviced my RCF and IS routinely at Lexus and talk regularly with the service manager about his IS F, mods in general, and my light mods and never has he given me any concern to worry about the res-delete.
Also curious what mileage you have? I'm at 9k to date.

Magnuson-Moss Act.
The dealer needs to provide written proof of why the resonator delete damaged the catalytic converter.

Thanks to Josh at Meraki for the timely delivery of my Borla exhaust system. I travel a lot and Josh was able to time the delivery of my new Borla exhaust system to arrive the same time I arrive! It all worked out!
Thanks to Josh at Meraki again!!!
I'm going to bolt it on soon and have a run with it. Will post when I get it done.
