Talking "Updated RCF to offer more power"

Any speculation on how lexus will go about extracting more power out of the same V8?

Not much of an increase... you can get the same or more with a reflash I believe.

I wouldn't hold my breath. They have had the same 306 HP 3.5L in the IS (now in the RC) for 11 years.

One of the stories referenced on the HP said it horsepower could be beyond 470... Which is three more than the current model. I know Lexus is always super concerned about reliability, but I'd think there's a way they could find their way to 500hp without compromising that? I mean, it's not like these engineers don't know what they're doing! Anyone think we could see 500hp?

I planned to buy an RC-F to compliment my '17 RX450H but was told by my buddy who is an engineer for Lexus to wait until next year. He couldn't tell me more but said it would be worth the wait.

If you have to wait til next year, i think it'll be too late for the RCF. The LCF should be dropping in 2019 and i can just about garantee it'll Trump the RCF in every way possible. Those wanting a fast/powerful luxury coupe would spring for the LCF instead.
Also, any significant bump in horsepower for the RCF will likely land it's sticker price super close to the LC500's tag....not sure how well either car would do with them competing with each other. I just still don't fully see of the point of Lexus having 2 'flagship' luxury coupes....

I think the LC is the flagship for sure and has been well recieved as compared to the RC-F. I agree that making the RC-F more expensive is not going to help it at all.

An LC-F will be in the $120k+ range. There is no RC-F that will even come close to that.
