Default Seat Ventilation

Back in March 2016 when I got this car, the seats would positively keep my back cool and dry on maximum fan speed. Now, a bit more than a year and 30,000 miles later...nothing. I'd have never imagined how hot Recaro seats are without ventilation. There is a faint sensation of air filtering through the seat if I'm not sitting on it, but nothing else to speak of. Is there a hidden blower flow tube I can't find and might have crushed or plugged? It pulls from the AC duct in the console correct?

As the seats are only Ventilated, i don't think it pulls air from the AC, its just basically a fan under the seat, iam also sure its only the seat part and not the back part of the seat that is heated / ventilated, the heated and ventilated seats on the RC seem to be pretty rubbish compared to other cars in the Lexus range, i think its due to the seat design and build.

Two things that will help, first make sure nothing is blocking the under part of the seat from behind, and second, put the ac on vent and floor, it will keep the air being sucked in to the seat ventilation cooler. I don't have an RCF but this worked well on my old IS350.

These seats push air through the lumbar support area as well. Nowadays though I don't feel it, but it used to follow AC temperature (super cold!).

These seats are By FAR the WORST ventilated seats Ive ever sat on.... Nothing more to add just a quick vent!

more fans would fix the issue, in fact I have some high flow/static pressure server fans I can mount to the housing.

I looked under the the seat and found the squirrel cage fan spinning slowly and pretty warm. I guess it's burned up. I'll see if Lexus wants to warranty it before I adapt a big a** fan to it.

The seats in mt GS460 vent through the lumbar region but have their own temperature controls independent of the AC. Try giving the seats a good clean and see if it help, the hole sin the leather are not unlike the pores in your skin and it may help the airflow a little, although not likely the temperature. Had recaro buckets in my evo, super cramped and very hot, but amazing for spirited driving.

I ran a few searches but couldn't find the post. Could you please post a link to it or post up a bit more info to help with the search?

Smile fan seat efficiency

very good article :

Korea University of Technology and Education

Estimation of Air Flow Rate in Automotive Ventilated Seat

In ventilated seats for cars, air flow is generated by a fan and passed through a foam pad, foam filter, and seat cover. There is a significant loss of air flow in this process, and it is not easy to analyze the amount delivered to the driver. Another difficulty is the geometric complexity of the air flow passage inside the seats. In this paper, the air flow through a foam pad was analyzed. Proper modeling of the bumps in the ventilation mat was found to be important in the analysis. Air flow is lost when it passes through the porous pad foam, which was measured and used to correct the analysis results. The corrected analysis results were in a good agreement with the experimental results. The amount of air flow delivered to a driver was measured using an airflow cone. Only 35.7% of the air flow from the fan was delivered.

If you set the AC to blow towards the floor ive noticed it helps a lot with venting the seats.

Mod last summer and yes As much air as possible is essential if you want to cool a little, Foam work does not affect back.
A little nosier but subtle in fact.

The ventilated seats in the RCF are pretty much useless, at least here in Texas with the blistering climate. Lexus checked it out for me and said it was normal. I've also read multiple other reports of people complaining how terrible the ventilated seats are. I've learned to live with it.

I recently had a 19 ES350 loaner and the ventilated seats were great and cooling was nearly instant. So I don't know if Lexus fixed the issue on all the new models or if the issue is just model specific to the RCF.
