Default Failed Radar Detector Wiring Install

Purchased the following items from Amazon for a sunvisor detector install:

Fusebox Add a Circuit Kit - Mini Blade
Amazon Amazon

Direct Wire Power Cord
Amazon Amazon

Total fail of an install. Had no problems removing various plastic panels, finding a proper fuse location (Wiper 5A and Radio 10A fuse locations tried), finding a good ground location with next to no resistance to ground ( less than 0.1 ohms).
Then before finalizing the wire route, I tested powering up the detector. The detector would power up and then fail with chirps, sometimes multiple times never powering on properly. I measured the voltage at 12.3 V with the ignition on only at the power connector (RJ-11) to the detector. I then tried starting the car to see if the detector issue would resolve itself. This time the power up sequence was ok followed by a low voltage indication on the detector screen. Measured the voltage at the power connector (RJ-11) detector at 13.8 V.
Suspecting a problem with the direct wire power cord I started measuring the resistance of the cord. On the hot leg I measured 6 to 60 ohms. For some reason as I wiggled the in line fuse barrel the resistance would change. On the return leg I always measured 6 ohms. Thinking that perhaps the direct wire cord was not put together properly and I'm getting to much of a voltage drop. What a pisser if the cord is not right but perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
