I've started getting "ipod authorization failed" error randomly when I connect my ipod. Eventually I can get it to connect, but this just started happening a few weeks ago.
Has anyone else gotten this message or have this issue? I'm using the newest version of the ipod touch. I realize most people are using their phones.
I believe I seen a thread in the 1st Gen RC forum from a member with a similar issue. I don't believe a remedy was found.
I use a USB memory stick. I just split up the music into folders to make it more manageable. But the navigation screen has some sorting options that are somewhat decent if your music is properly tagged and such. But it doesn't remember the filters you used to sort the music if you turn off the car, which can be a drag.
I don't like the phone because any time I get a notification it cuts out my music. Also, if using bluetooth instead of wired connection the music sometimes cuts out (interference perhaps). It's an issue on my phone though, not the car. Because the same thing happens sometimes at work with my bluetooth headphones.

I have tried using the USB stick, but the system only recognized the first hundred or so songs, and I have several thousand (I always do a random play). However, I didn't have them in folders, so maybe that is the reaon? How many songs do you have on your USB? Mine, won't even connect via bluetooth, but I don't like the sound using bluetooth anyway so that isn't an option for me. Puzzling.

I don't recall exactly how many songs I have in my folders. But I know for sure I have at least 250 songs in a couple of them and I haven't had any issues with the system not recognizing them.
I don't have any songs not in a folder. So it could be related to your issue since you don't use folders.
The random play feature can be set to play across all of your folders (click it twice I think). So you wouldn't have to worry about losing that feature by placing the songs in folders.
Edit:
Actually, I know a few folders have between 250-255 songs. I know this because it's the same USB stick I use in my 2010 RX350 and it will not recognize more than ~255 songs per folder. However, IIRC the RC can recognize around ~500. I am pretty sure I read that when I was reading the owners manual on audio stuff. But less than 255 works for sure.
