I've never owned a 981 or a 911 (I almost bought a loaded 981). But from what I read the 981 is actually a more balanced car due to the placement of the engine being more near the center of the chassis instead of at the rear. It has the same flat 6 engine as the 911, just tuned down. So from what I gather with a little bit of aftermarket work the 981 is actually a better sports car than the 911. I'm not trying to start a war, just stating my impressions.
But yes, I was also drawn to the uniqueness of the RC F. I prefer to be different and not follow the crowd. That's probably true for a lot of RC F owners.
I have many laps in various Caymans on various tracks. They are very balanced and easy to drive fast. My attraction comments is more about looks and meeting my needs a car for the street. Either a 911 or a Cayman and an RCF for that matter provides way more potential than one could safely exploit on public streets.
Having raced various 911 platforms since the 1980s (from 81SC to 997 Cup), I am firm believer in the rear engine configuration on the track. There will always be the debate and here is an old article I had booked marked.
Sooo, back on topic... I think I'm going in this weekend to look at numbers, I don't know if I'm going to be able to wait till the end of the year, so any news yet?

Well, considering now the GS-F as well since Lexus of North Miami has a special for $849 for 36 months on their website ... also the pic they put on it is a GS F-sport, don't know if it's a mistake or not but I will call tomorrow as they are supposedly closed already today and find out more about this... although I still really want an RC-F :/

i wouldn't image the RC model range will receive the 10 inch nav screen. it came out a year later than the IS, meaning the mid cycle refresh is next year. the 2018 model is much more likely to receive the bigger screen. i hope they also get rid of the remote touch and just put the mouse with the enter buttons on both sides in it. its easier to use imho.
Get rid of that horrible grill, the sooner the better.
Candidly, the new look, primarily the new grill, is what go my attention and I would have never remotely considered purchasing a Lexus but for the new styling. I suppose the new grills and styling will lose the older former Lexus customers to some degree, but has the potential to attract a younger and different target market long term. I am more bothered by the larger goofy tail lights Japanese car makers are going to.

I like the look also. Reminds me of a freaking Ramjet.
Latest motor trend showing 17 will get the adaptive suspension...damn
If it would have been available on the 2015+ models I would have insisted on having it. But now that I'm used to driving without it, it doesn't really matter to me. I mean, it would be nice to have at times. However, it's not worth trading in my current car just to get it.
