Since I got the RC-F in mid June, I've had about 4 guys congratulate me on my LFA - maybe they just can't read or could be the generally low-IQ of the Joe 6-packs around here, not sure, but I didn't correct any of them...
Honestly, it does happen. This guy at the tire shop saw the f badge on the fender of my IS F and said that this is the lfa huh?... and im like no its just an IS F
Can't blame em. Didn't Lexus model the RC coupe after the LFA? And Lexus did a horrible job marketing the RC Coupe. No one knows about it.
Don't know about them modeling the RCF after the LFA & i Don't think Lexus really cared about marketing the RCF, but i LOVE it cause you Don't see one on every other corner like you do the BMW's. Kind of like the Vette/Viper's, you see Vette's on EVERY corner & EVERY used car lot!

Lexus did a perfect job using the RCF as a halo vehicle to market its other cars that actually do sell in large numbers. Remember the commercial for the ES, IS that included the RCF and LFA driving together? Its perfect to get the attention of those buyers who are going to buy the ES and IS.
Lexus fully expects the RCF to sit on dealer lots after the initial hype wears down. I'd love to know the dealership allocation numbers for the RCF.

Agreed, this is a very attractive feature of the RC F. I can almost always see at least one Mustang at any given time when I'm on the road. In a parking lot there are always a few if not several. Almost the same goes for Camaros. Vettes are everywhere as you mentioned, and almost always driven by retired baby-boomers. I don't think I've ever seen a vette going over the speed limit. BMWs everywhere, more like a housewife-mobile than anything else. Whatever shortcomings the RC-F may have (and I think it's very few) it does for sure score high in uniqueness.
I've had people mistake my RC350 for an RCF but I can't see any comparisons to the LFA. They have to be totally car-clueless.
But the average guy on the street has rarely, if ever, seen either one unless they are a Lexus fan-boy so it's not too surprising.
I'd settle for my RC-F sounding like an LFA, but I don't think there is an exhaust system on earth that can make a V-8 sound like that purpose-built V-10, unfortunately.
