Sad that a more lightweight model couldn't be released as he says.
I have a Fuji and even though there is a noticeable decrease in weight and handling improvement thanks to the Carbon Ceramics, I think Lexus could have still taking it a bit further with lightweight carbon fiber seats, Full titanium exhaust(not just axleback) rear seat delete and a couple other lightweight components bringing the weight down another 150 pounds over the 180 pound decrease, specially when the MSRP is 100k lol
Cars get heavier due to higher rigidity platforms, bigger brakes, bigger wheels, bigger size etc. and also more complexity due to more technology etc. It is just evolution. Even the M4 CSL is actually 3600+ lbs and it went through about a 250 lbs weight reduction over a regular M4. RCF is actually the smallest car in its segment, which is kind of nice.
That is after they stripped out a lot of things and put a lot of carbon fiber. Only cars that are made to be pure sports cars like 911 where the size is kept very small, is where they are able to really make them under 3400 lbs or so.

I'm sure he wanted to. The ISF was a passion project for him and I think when he read all the negative comments about the RCF due to weight he wanted to make more of a GT3-esque type car. Unfortunately he isn't the only one with ideas and I'm sure Lexus (who is still more about luxury than performance) was confused at a stripper car that makes a lot of rattles and noises to sell.
To the accountants...the LFA didn't sell, the ISF didn't sell....why spend more money on development on a GT3 type RCF when they can just make more NXs and ISs and meet their bonus percentage for the year?
