Default New owner - ride vs wheel size question

Hi all

I’m off to trade in my 2015 Launch edition STi tomorrow (my 5th and owned from new) against an RC 350 AWD F sport (2016) with lowish miles.

If there was a new STi model out, I would probably have bought another new one, but paying out $15k plus, just for a zero miles version of the car you already own seems a little pointless.

A good friend suggested trying an RC after telling him what I wanted - AWD for winter snow, something where I don’t get a leg workout as I drive for 2hrs a day+ in traffic and something a little easier in the ride department, as I’m getting old
(just like the last 80k miles in this STi.

Just so you don’t think me completely soft for the following question, this is my current assortment of weekend toys:
a 914-6 which is now nearly all tube frame and GRP, a 70s 911 Resto project and an Ariel Atom.

Son on booster seat in the Atom.

Anyway, I like the idea of buying some Ferrada wheels for it.
At this point, I’m not looking to lower the car, so I’m wondering what experience people have had, going from 19 to 20” wheels and relative comfort?

Has the extra diameter and resultant smaller tire wall made the drive noticeably harsher. Is the difference barely noticeable?

Input very welcome as the last thing I want to do is buy a comfy (but slightly slower) luxury car, only to go and ruin the ride with oversized wheels!

Thanks so much for any advice!

I run 20”s on my RC and the ride is still amazing!

Dang looks good! Yep the tappety sound is normal. that’s the result of the port and direct injection system. the valves slam shut from the high pressure fuel, resulting in the tapping. all normal!

Thank you.
Thought that extended warranty was going to get used faster than I thought!

As an FYI to other prospective purchasers of a used RC, mine came from a Toyota dealer and was ex lease. They seem to be getting more common now.
I negotiated $600 off the 80k mile platinum Lexus/Toyota warranty over what they had listed on my 30k mile car. Zero deductible, bumper to bumper (not wear items) and cash back in prorata if I sell the car before 80k miles. Something like around $1,100 out of pocket.

Thanks so much!
Took 3 years to build.

Who knew that Lexus had optional Bulldog headrest accessories.

Wondered what gold wheels might look like and while I was photoshopping, I realized just how big the front wheel well gap is!

Looks nice, but don't care for Gold on a white car.

I have odd taste.

I think it goes back to an 05 STi I had. It was white with BBS gold wheels. Fantastic looking car.
There was a BMW hard top convertible too that was white with red interior and gold wheels that I saw in a magazine, that looked really cool. To me anyway!

We’ll see where I go next... I’m still undecided!
