BMW and the rest of the German companies are notorious for setting lower "base price" on their cars because every little thing is an option. A comparable optioned M3 is always higher than an ISF.

what we are saying is the loaded price is what's relevant. If two fully loaded cars have the exact same price, no one cares what the base prices were. No one buys a base car, every car comes with options these days.

If comparing feature lists, I'm willing to bet an RC-F will be cheaper than an M4 when both have equal options.
What I and many posters are trying to say is that a base RC-F may be perfectly acceptable to drive off the dealer's lot due to its generous standard features while a "base" M4 will be a figment of the imagination since it will be so under-equipped no sane person would buy it in real life without first tacking on $10K worth of "optional" equipment.
Optional equipment like air-conditioning, steering wheel,brakes etc ( just kidding but you get my point....)

Those customers would have to special order those and wait awhile, I don't think many dealers are lining up to order a bare bones ///M car

in singapore, one will be $250k and the other will be $270k, so maybe it doesn't matter.

Of course no one buys a base car. My point is that if Lexus announces a base price of $71k, we as buyers are looking at a car that could easily be over $80k with options. But if Lexus announces that the RC-F will be in the $71k range with options, that looks a lot more attractive. BIG DIFFERENCE!

Lexus prices have been up for a decade now. You can get a GS 350 luxury around 70k with every option. No joke a loaded GS 450h can hit 80k with every option/accessory.
So a RC F starting around 71k sounds about right. A loaded IS F is around 66k.
The only thing that could change is Lexus starts pricing super aggressive since the Yen is trading more favorably. I don't think that is going to happen.
Heck a loaded Lexus IS is over 50k today. Prices have crept up significantly.

+1 My 2008 GS350 was fully loaded, minus a few rare options. And I remember I got it new for $45,500... The 13' GS350 that I got now was $67,800. So the prices are definitely going up...

My GS350 that wasnt fully loaded was something like 52k with discounts... i think top end was 55k without any discounts.
Difference between fully loaded IS-F and base one is not that big... with Germans, difference is much larger, so thats why "base" price really doesnt tell us anything at the end.
