Quick Question - Trunk Keyless Entry
2015 RC350 - Was fiddling around with a new Scanner (CGSULIT S-510 for Toyota/Lexus/Scion) and not sure when I was playing with it if I somehow disabled the keyless entry for the trunk. Meaning - If I have the keyfob in my pocket and I push the soft button on the trunk lid to open the trunk when the doors are locked, should the trunk open? Currently with the doors lock I cannot open the trunk unless I either: A) unlock the doors or B) on the key fob push the trunk unlock button.
Is it normal to have the doors unlocked to open the trunk or did I screw something up?
Thanks in advance for your help....
(PS CGSULIT scanner is ok. Obviously you can get and clear drivetrain codes, but also body and chassis codes. Ability to modify or customize is somewhat limited, but that may be due to what Toyota/Lexus is allowing third parties to change.

My RC is "Infrared" also (small club, I think), and I have been using the button to open the trunk with the doors locked and the fob in my pocket for seven years or so. In fact, I am surprised when, after stashing purchased stuff into the trunk and shutting the lid, I still have to wait that one second after grabbing the door handle for the doors to unlock and the double "unlock" beep to sound.
There is a button in the glove compartment that has something to do with valet security and access to the trunk lid. You might want to check to see if changing the position of that button fixes this problem. No one should be forced to fumble for the fob just to pop the trunk lid.

KJFS: I just checked, and the problem you are having is with the button in the glove box. The button is on the far left side of the box, on the front, and down at the bottom. There is not a lot of travel in the button, but it's a two position deal: in or out, and it's hard to tell from looking what the setting is. I forget which is which, but in one position the trunk button is disabled, even if you have the key fob. This is to spoil the evil intentions of nefarious valets who have your car for a while and would like to steal your spare, your windshield washing rag, or your spoiling groceries and melting ice cream. With the button in the other position, the trunk button will work both when the car is unlocked and when the car doors are locked but you have the key fob in proximity (that means in your pocket). Using the trunk button does not unlock the doors.
Change that button setting immediately.

Thanks all (especially tfischer ) - yes the button on the upper left hand side of the glove box surround was the issue. Apparently when I was replacing the cabin air filter I must have inadvertently pushed it.
Now, all is well ! ! !

Lexus set it up to work the way it does because Lexus knows that we don't trust those sneaky valets. If you're like me, you valet your car several times a week, and although I need to give the key fob to the valet, I don't want him snooping around in the glove compartment, where I usually keep my gun, my passport and my weed, and I surely don't want him to open the trunk because sometimes there's a dead body in there. So I push the secret button (see above), slide the the "valet key" out of the fob, use it to lock the glove box and then I can give the fob to the valet. With the fob he can start the car and lock/unlock the doors, but without the little key, he can't open the glove box, and with the button depressed, he cannot access the trunk. His nefarious intentions have been foiled, and I can then surely enjoy my time in that restaurant good enough to have valets, no matter how untrustworthy.
