Lightbulb TRD airfilter for 98+ GS3

What will the effect be in using this over the stock air filter? Change in sound? Peformance? Durability?? Worth the price?

Thanks,
Rock

go with a K&N instead.

change in sound at WOT.
a tad more peppy when using E-shift and slighty with normal.

durability wise...they are easy to clean and last a while.

btw. remove the lid to the airbox.

well once you give it some punch it will go "OOOMPH" making a very deep sound, and yes you slip the cover off of the air box and pop in the filter.

It would only make a difference when air is being sucked in.

You have quite a few choices for aftermarket drop-in air filters: TRD, Tom's, Blitz, K&N, ProLex...

All of these will provide you with much more satisfaction over the OEM stock air filter. Performance-wise you should notice the change immediately, and most of these filters are very durable and manufactured to be cleaned and re-used over and over. You should only notice a slight change in the sound...but definitely a positive in my book. The upfront cost is definitely more, but down the line you will not have a need to replace the filter (thus the cost savings).

You will also need to adjust the springs inside the air filter box in order to hold the filter in place...most of the aftermarket filters are thinner then the OEM filter.

I wouldn't hesitate a second to change out the filter...and if cost is an issue, go with K&N as it is probably the cheapest of the bunch and can be bought from almost any local auto retail store (pep boys, trak auto, etc...).

Performance between all these filters has probably been discussed on this board previously, but in general they are all better then stock.

if you get the K&N as i did make sure you are getting the GS300 model.

It comes with a mounting rack for the filter that will slip right into the airbox and stay thee.
