I recently lost one of the key fobs for my 2019 IS350. I have called the local dealerships and they are quoting me $580 for the key and $170 for labor. I found an independent locksmith that is willing to either program an aftermarket fob for $280 or an OEM fob for $380, which is considerably cheaper than what the dealerships are doing. My question is are there issues with using an independent locksmith to get this done?

 

I used a local locksmith and got a new key fob for $300. No problems

 

hey thanks...just wondering did you get the oem fob or an aftermarket? Also did the locksmith disable the lost fob?

 

I got the oem one. They wanted more money to remove the lost one so I left it in the system

 

I was able to buy a used fob off eBay for $80 and then buy a OBD2 tool to program it; it was on Amazon for $100.

They may have been using Techstream. Sold on Amazon.
