Is this possible? I know that the actual key is already cut for the GS but what about the fob? Can it be reprogrammed for my IS?

It's not which car it came from, it's what RFID it's using. Check the FCC ID#.

If it matches you are good.

^^Well, I went to a couple of dealerships today and they said it can't be done. Sucks I gotta pay like 300 something for it. Thanks for the help though.

$300 is too much. Typically programming the key costs $120. $80 if you shop around.

Sewell sells brand new replacement Lexus key fobs for $128 with the clublexus discount. So max you should pay $208.

You can buy a used key off e-bay with the right fcc id. Find your original key which works, and tell me what the FCC ID is, and I will find you a cheap source.

The FCC ID is on the side of the fob with the L logo. At the bottom in gray lettering.
