I have a 2010 IS 250 and I have some money saved up and I was wondering what would be the best upgrade for a little more power. I was thinking about getting headers and a tune but I'm not sure If there are any other options for power. If you could help me with this it would be appreciated!
My first suggestion to a -250 owner is always going to be a Y38 or Y50 differential. Having both tires applying power to the pavement makes an immense difference, both in the corners and in a straight line.
Edit:I meant Y38 or Y58. Y50 is the pegleg from an auto IS250. Y38 is 4.1 ratio, and Y58 is 4.3 ratio Torsen.
The power-added options (turbo, supercharger) are $$$$$, huge time element, always needs custom fabrication.
The car will be faster.
Now you can work on the transmission, radiator, LSD, suspension, gauges.
The difference between that ^^^ and a faster car:
Your finished project cannot be maintained, repaired, tuned, or adjusted by anyone except the shop that built it. No Lexus or Toyota dealer will even do an inspection. It has almost no added resale value from the $10,000 (at least() you spent. It will fail California emissions.
Look down the road: no matter what you do, the car will never be FAST, just faster. Will that be enough?
