Default HELP!! Any other mod??

Hey dudes!! i was thinking if theres any other modification i can do to gain HP out of headers, intake, exhaust. I know that in the market thats probably what is on sale, im talking about custom mods to gain power, if anyone has or know, please share your ideas.

PD: Please, no Nitrous.

supercharger or strip your interior to increase your power to weight ratio.

Intake ~5 hp
Exhaust ~7-10 hp depending on which exhaust and if you care about being legal or not
PPE Headers- ~10-18 hp depending which dyno you believe

that's pretty much it if you don't want nitrous.

Oh, you could also throw on a piggyback ECU (MAPECU3 or HKS F-con Pro are known to work if set up right) but return on investment if keeping the car NA is horrible... (about 10 hp for costs in the $700-1500 range)

Well, you COULD supercharge it, but the return on investment is pretty poor there too (40-70 hp for costs in the $6000-10,000 range)

Otherwise nothing to add power, though as mentioned you can improve quickness a bit with weight reduction.

In the US anyway you're just about always better off getting a faster IS model (250->350 or 350->F) than trying to make a slow model faster.

I would love to change it for an F, but since i have 3 month with mis is350 i want to keep it for a while. I have some cuestions:

1- Does a direct exhaust gives more HP than the traditional X type exhaust?? im thinking of doing a custom direct mid pipe to make it fit the F-spor exhaust and take out the Y pipe. Any suggestions

2- I dont want to use Nitrous, but just in case, does it really hurts the engine? is ok to put a 100hp system?

Thanks!

What do you have now? Whats your budget? What do you want to accomplish (how much power)? You can "easily" put together a supercharger kit for <$5k and run ~7psi and have more fun, but not make crazy power.

Procharger blower - $2300
Intercooler - $Couple hundred
BOV - $Couple hundred
Intercooler piping - $Depends, not crazy though. Only pipe that has "complex bends" is the one off the throttle body or the one that wraps around the front and holds a BOV I'd say.
Couplers/Clamps - $100-200
Supercharger mounting bracket - $Custom made. But with help of forum members, pictures or a good shop, it should be attainable, I'm unsure of what a "going rate" would be though.
Air Filter - $50

I'm hoping they get it tuned too, for yalls sake! I get updates from them through texts occasionally, waiting for that monumental text that will change the F world!

I'd add that the only folks who have successfully run 7 psi (and actually run that much, not just babied the engine) also used aftermarket engine management like a MAPECU3 or F-con pro, adding another $700-1500 to the build.

And that's all assuming you can do your own labor on the whole kit, and the tuning as well.

On a 350 in particular I'm only aware of one build that ran 7 psi sustained, and that was HKS350, who used the HKS kit and the F-con Pro, a setup that goes well north of $5000 unless you're finding a used one with free tuning... Elias is running 7 on a 250 mainly because he's running a 350 kit on a 250.

Subject variation but I beat up 7 psi pretty faithfully for the week or so I ran it. After a few bumps the ecu leveled off and 7 lbs wasn't so taboo. Keep in mind it's a s/c so max psi is coming pretty damn near close to redline...Personally, I ventured to assume a 7 psi system was more like a 6.5psi setup being that I wasn't redlining thru the gears.

FWIW Pepos ran 7psi for 25,000 miles according to his build thread with nothing more than water/meth injection, another fairly cheap addition to the parts list before he ever opted to use mapecu3.

And also swapping pulleys to down your boost a tad is only $80. Still just tired of seeing boosting as "not an option" for the 2IS. I always agree that it's not an option for most, but for some, it is worth it.

Fair enough, but that kit wasn't in your price list either

I don't know that anyone has said it's not an option- I sure haven't It's just not an option that makes much economic sense for most people in the US.... (it makes far more economic sense for Pepos since the 350 isn't sold in his country- or anyone else in countries where the 350 isn't sold, or the IS-F is massively more expensive than in the US).. and it's not an option to make a TON of power, with ~7 psi being the upper limit of the system based on everything we know so far.

It'd be silly to say it's not an option at all though, given folks have been doing it since the first LMS kit 5+ years ago.
