Ok so for you two that have done throttle body mods here. I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous. So we know something can Flow no more that the smallest restriction can flow. But it looks like for some reason the Bigger Throttle body in the Tundra one and Bored one are not opening all the way? Why would this happen?
So I think I now have both a Lower Intake and Upper Plastic intake to Port and smooth out. So a larger throttle body with it is not the way to go? I had planned to also have the Throttle Body Bored and polished.
It is interesting to see the timing, MAF reading differences. It could be humidity and temp related as well, but here's the latest log. It should breathe well with 8" less runner length and a bigger TB. Driving smoothly, but feel the tuning/ecu is holding back or something. I get the same MAF readings with the stock upper filter housing on, off, with filter and without a filter. Lost cfm when I used a radiused 3" MAF pipe with and without a filter. Crazy
Don't worry about the maf if your short and long fuel trims even out under 5% while driving around. You are losing too much velocity with your intake, that is why it's not working out well. Your runner length is too short to really get the air moving and it looks like your overall plenum volume may be too small.

So larger (TB Ported or Tundra)..... or not the way to go. Stay with Stock?
I wouldn't recommend the tundra throttle body as a basic upgrade unless you've done a handful of other things. As for porting the stock one, if it's cheap enough for you to not worry about it, go for it. Be mindful however that you can't really open up the stock upper more than 74mm and 72mm is about as far as you would want to go if you aren't going to modify your upper manifold. If you are looking to make more power, I'd recommend a tune and 2.5" exhaust, then headers.
I too tried that throttle body and I had drivability issues. I ended up having a stock throttle body ported and it works fine. I believe the stock throttle body can be opened up to 75/76mm but I went with 74mm as that's about as far as the stock upper can be opened up to.
I have been too busy to dig into why my throttle body hasn't been opening up completely, but here is a log which suggests that the larger throttle body might not gain much over a ported stock throttle body. Throttle position used to read 80something at WOT but now won't go into the 70s. Even while opening less my maf values are up some since cleaning up my upper manifold.
Can I ask you where you had the Stock Throttle body ported at? Has anyone resolved the Throttle body openning limitation yet?
How is this thing running its quite the take on an intake manifold project. Does it flow better, does it flow worse? Is there gains or losses? Would this respond better to boost over the oem? I'm intrigued by the efforts.

He took it off and went back to Stock. I think it had some drivability issues due to that there was not a custom tune on tuned for that major of a change. He also has a Turbo he will eventually install and that was kinda a mock up for it too.
I'm still looking for a good place that does TB Porting? Anyone?

I made it more for future turbo plans. It did pick up fake dyno power at the top end, but the runner length is more an 8k rpm NA length. I was flowing more on the top end than stock according to MAF datalogs, but my Tundra Throttle body was closing a bit above 6000 rpm on the stock and RR racing tune.
I love making manifolds, so it was and is fun.....

I used maxbore.com for my throttle body porting. I would recommend him, but I wouldn't recommend doing the throttle body unless you feel comfortable working on the intake manifold as well. As is, you can go up to 72mm with the stock manifold, which isn't much of a gain. I've been able to open it up to 74mm, I don't think there's enough material to go any bigger without risking issues.
As far as the the throttle body not opening all of the way, it's in the tune. I've looked into it and the throttle body is doing what it's told.

Thank you for the info on where to send the TB to have Bored. Yess I have sent a upper and lower Intake Manifold out to be flow bench measured and cleaned up.
Now has anyone figured out how to over come the opening limit restrictions yet? I'm about to pull the trigger on the D3 performance Tune. I was told by them that they over came the restrictions, but I'm not so sure that there was a exact understanding of what I was talking about to them. This restriction has got to be a major problem to overcome that is robbing hp. Anyone figured it out yet? If so what do you do? Thanks.
