Default Boost controllers

Hello,

I have owned a 2000 gs300 for nearly three years now and it has undergone a lot. At present, the car is aristo swapped with a single borg Warner. Reason for starting this thread is to find out who is running what for boost control. I have a turbosmart eboost2 and am struggling to make it work. Would love to find someone who has one set up and functioning right.

The bottom picture is the one I followed. I used the old vac lines for the twins in place of tapping the turbo housing.

The red wire is the vacuum source for the solenoid. The yellow is the one going down to the wastegate.

Me too!!! Well the borg part and boost controller issues.

Blitz dsbc-id and hks evc5.

Tial wg 38mm
borg 51mm 177257 (sx200 i guess)

Tried various hook ups and settings but finding that it starts bleeding off from 2 or 3 psi with 17lbs max.
Tried gain in all diff numbers and wastegate both ext and int.
still fighting it.

It doesn’t look like you have it connected right. The boost controller should be directly in line between the boost pressure source and the waste gate’s lower port. Then the center port from the boost controller should run inside. I only see one vacuum line from your turbo area to the controller and one heading inside. But that’s why I wanted more clear pictures of your setup.

Edit: Ya I'm looking at it closer and you don't have a boost source connected if that yellow line only runs to the waste gate.

So I should t into that line for the boost controller? Should I t the boost controller vac line into the yellow(to wastegate) or red (vacuum source to solenoid)? I’m new to this so I apologize if I’m going in circles.

I'm using a manual boost controller (mbc) which is simpler and cheaper. So I don't know about your settings, but I think the vacuum setup has to be similar. So how the boost controller goes: Imagine you do not have one in the car. You would have a vacuum line from boost pressure (usually off the turbo like in your examples), but you said yours is coming from somewhere else, and the waste-gate. So the boost controller simply goes in that vacuum line. Just cut it and place it directly in that vacuum line so the boost source goes through the valve and to the waste-gate still. Then the third port coming out of the valve is what goes inside to your controller. Should be T'd off of the vacuum line between boost pressure and the waste-gate.

So you’re saying that the boost controls vacuum line should be teed into the blue circled line in this pic?

Yes. I'm saying just as that picture shows, the valve should be in that line. Not just one line running to it. I can't imagine your car is making any boost right now the way that is set up. You don't have a functioning waste-gate without boost pressure going to it. I would start by running the vacuum line from boost pressure to the waste-gate if you don't have it like that, then T into that with the valve. Then run the line inside for control.

Ok. Yeah, I’ll t into the one marked in blue. The boost control vac line is connected to a different source. I’ll cap it and make sure it’s hooked to the blue one. Hopefully that solves it. If not, there’s a 2 port method I could make work.

Does yours get stuck on negative number scale from say -20-0.0? I contacted turbosmart and they are doing an inspection of the controller

Did you ever change your vacuum routing? I just re read this thread and looked at your setup and the pics we were discussing. The vacuum routing is still wrong from what I can see. You have a 3 port electronic boost controller. So it needs to be set up like this:

I think that last pic you posted confused me, but it’s not right. Here is how it should be. Your original vacuum line should run to the bottom port of the wastegate. Just T off of that and go to the top port of the wastegate with the boost controller. Here’s mine:

You can barely see it, but the line from the turbo, or in your case, the original vacuum line for the twins, runs to the bottom port of the wastegate. I have the controller T’ed off that line and into the top port. The rest is up the electronics.

I did, reads fine now. There’s were two issues, the first was the vacuum source was wrong(fixed now) and the second is the power source for the boost controller. I tied it to the cig lighter and that was resetting the gauge. I instead had to run the power wire to the fuse box and that solved the resetting issues. I appreciate your help man! I’m actually getting ready to take the setup apart and fix a few things. Thank you again!
