Default HPS charge pipe

Hi all.
I have a Takeda on my 2017 IS200T and I am thinking of getting the HPS charge pipe.
Any feedback on the charge pipe?

I've only seen 1 member mention having the HPS charge pipe so there's not really any information about it. I've been trying to get my hands on one but being in California is making that difficult. 3 orders cancelled so far so I'm trying to find a seller who doesn't care about carb compliancy.

So I have a HPS charge pipe installed along with my stock air box and K&N air filter. In comparison to my stock setup I averaged about a .2 second decrease in my 0-60 time. Now something that would be interesting to see is a combination of using the enclosed section of the Takeda air intake along with the HPS charge pipe, if they are compatible that is =)

Did you install the charge pipe yourself?

Oh wait, I actually misunderstood, you're just referring to the intake pipe after the airbox.

Thought you were referring to the actual charge pipe between the turbo and intercooler, lol.

Have you removed the charcoal filter in the upper air box? Should get some improvement in responsiveness out of that.

Sorry about the confusion, I didn't think that Takeda made charge pipes for our vehicles and thought maybe you were referring to the air intake. But yea I already removed the charcoal filter from my air box, I'll need to look into this HPS charge pipe as well.

I installed the charge pipe on my 2016 RC200T. The installation was a real pain in the a$$. I also did not see any significant performance gain associated with the charge pipe installation. I mostly installed the charge pipe in anticipation for future performance modifications.

What will you do? The only way is to change the turbo or make or chip tuning.

I have a charge pipe installed, it's similar to the HPS one.
Installed it before HPS began offering theirs.
You can find more info linked below.
FTP charge pipe:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/cl-...nd-gs200t.html

Like @Viol8r mentioned it is a terrible pain to install, I think was 3-4 hours with lots of struggling.
At the moment it focuses on long term reliability.
A couple of tuned 8ARs were cracking the stock plastic ones once stressed.
Of course this is preventative and can move the stress to other components like the plastic intake manifold or the plastic water-to-air intercooler. Which are probably more difficult to repair.

Note that on the IS the upper bracket (1) is missing.
I'm not sure if the RC or NX also has this bracket.
If left unattended/unassisted the previously supported rubber hose above it will begin to wear on the metal shield and eventually cut it.
The bottom bracket (2) is also missing and acts as a support for the assembly.

Edit: HPS provides additional hardware to support the mentioned hose (see 3rd pic).

If you are wondering about this mod, you are probably also wondering about the turbo muffler delete.
Which is no longer offered and discontinued as far as I know.

What's your experience with the Takeda intake? I was thinking to get one, but hasn't seen enough feedback to pull the trigger.

I bought the Takedaintake after doing quite a bit of research.
There were many brands out there, AEM, Injen, HPS, etc.
I have a concern of the intake sucking in hot air from the engine bay. Regardless of how good the heat shield is, if there is no encasement or enclosed area, the intake will suck in hot air still.
My feedback on the intake is that it is so sleek looking and in terms of sound wise, if you are look to maintain the image that Lexus is a quiet car, The Takeda is suitable for you.
If you like the sucking sound from the intake, you should go for the Injen.
I had it on my Gti and the sound was orgasmic.... not for the faint hearted and not everyone can accept it.

As the days passes, I think the intake is too quiet
