IMO, you can buy a second gen for the money and pain doing that will cost you vs first gen + mod.
No, it will not be a direct swap. The ECU is different between cars, the wheel where the shift buttons are located is totally different. I wouldn't do it if you were paying for it

Anything is possible with enough money. I bet it will be very expensive, not worth it IMO . I beleive the first gen. has a 4 speed auto. compared to the second gen. which has a 5 speed auto.
New tranny + new ecu + lot's of labor = the national debt

Yeah , i knew what it was. Just the cost of buying and installing will be alot. Around 12k - 20k is a rough estimate i beleive.
You can gain 400 - 550 hp with adding a turbo kit. PHR, Toyomoto, SRT are all capable of getting the hp you want. If you just want 400-550 , adding a turbo is the way to go IMO. Now if you want 800 plus, then go ahead with the engine swap.
Check out www.IS300.net , some of those guys have some high hp. IS's .

LOL, we're going back and forth.
How far are you from Miami ? You need to check out www.toyomoto.com . Lance@toyomoto can do it , with no problems. Jarret at www.powerhouseracing.com can also do it, he's in Fort Worth, Texas though. SRT and PFS has also dont the swap, but they are way up north.
I know what you are dreaming about and it won't be cheap.
Check out www.IS300.net , those guys have a wealth of knowledge after you sort out the BS, plus they have actually done it.
If i was you , i would go with Lance, i only hear of good things about him. Me, i plan on going with Jarret.
I want about the same hp as you, but won't be changing trannnys. I will just beef up the current tranny instead.

I've seen a Toyomoto single turbo SC300(2jz-ge) with Supra 6-speed transmission on TURBO magazine. That monster runs 1/4 mile in high 10's
loonyrobert3..........every swap is possible......if you have enough cash to burn
One NBA superstar bought a Lambo but he can't drive stick shift, so he swap the manual trans to auto(must cost him alot.)
