Is there enough room on the 2017-up square exhaust tips to cut them and weld an over the counter quad tip?

I was at an exhaust shop and the lead tech said in his opinion there is not enough room from the exit of the muffler to the factory tip to make a clean cut and weld on a new set of tips.

I know it it can be done on a muffler delete. That’s not what I’m asking. I’m asking for new tips on a complete factory exhaust.
