What is the comparable muffler that you sell? 4x9 oval?

No, there is no change in sound since it's just the tips. I was saying I got the looks I wanted without any highway noise.

Default Trying to keep OEM tip IS300 F-sport

Looking into getting the Magnaflow street series axle back but was curious if any of you knew if welding off the tips which come with the magnaflow and leaving the OEM tips of the Lexus would be alright?

I've tried a couple of axlebacks on my 3IS but it wasn't cutting it for me. Mind you I have PPE headers + Ark mid pipe - makes everything louder and raspier.

1. Full Ark Exhaust - loud as a ****, drone like crazy, raspy, good power gain, sounds great on wot, best looking exhaust for the 3is for the non quad setup.
2. F-sport axle back - little drone, no power gain, not deep enough, raspy on wot, stock look
3. Tanabe medallion - higher drone than #2 but lower than #1, way too deep sound in my opinion, looks like a honda exhaust from the back aesthetic wise, little power gain.

4. Went back to full ark exhaust with modification - bought a couple of Magnaflow cats and had them welded into the full ark exhaust. very little drone now, quiet on idle, nomore rasp, sounds magnificent on wot, retain all the power gain from having a full ark exhaust. looks great from the back.

this ended up being a very expensive experience as you can imagine, i have sold all the other exhaust but with obviously a loss of $. modifying the ark exhaust cost me another 400$ after all was said and done. it was all worth it to me at least now that i have the perfect sound and performance for my car. you gotta pay to play as they all say

Dude, thanks for all the info!

Am I correct in assuming that it's the mid-pipe delete/modification/replacement that really makes the car more raspier? I think I've seen that on a few videos.

I guess maybe there isn't an exhaust that is perfect for me. I remember on my STi the Prodrive axle-back did wonders for the car, but wasn't perfect. Then in switching to the APS I found the sound I was looking for. Perfect deep rumble, no drone, just fantastic. I'm almost at the point of considering just buying a couple of APS mufflers and replacing the stock mufflers with those.

I don't see why it wouldn't.

that is correct, removing the midpipe cats and resonators basically removes anything that slows the air down which is what produces the noise (there's nothing to slow the air down). same with catless headers.

All of the mufflers used in our complete systems are built specifically for each application and not available for separate purchase, but the physical size of the ones in this axle back is 5x8x14".

Is F-Sport its own brand? Confused!

What I eventually did was buy the arkopovic style staggered dual tips with dry carbon fiber and welded it on the stock mufflers, they are 2.5 inch inlet and dual 3.5 outlets that is slightly staggered, over all it's right around 8 inches when you take the carbon fiber surrounds into consideration.
This looks badass, sir.

I think the F Sport is the OEM performance part, like SVT is to Ford, or SLP is to Pontiac, etc.

Thanks man. Curious, then, if there's any value in going with a K&N vs. leaving the F-Sport filter. Do you happen to know?

It depends on what you're going for. The F Sport isn't going to give you any more power, but won't hurt either. You're always safe with factory accessories, but you're definitely not going to get as much bang for your buck.

someone correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the fsport filter is dry vs the kn which is oil lubed. either one will give you the same performance if you don't have any bolt ons, it's just a matter of preference. i myself have a k&n with rr-racing's cf intake tube.
