Default fuel return setup & fuel pump question

so i bought an already turboed is300. basically it has a line running from FPR to the top of the fuel sending unit and thats it.
Ive done one of these on my other is300 where you plug the stock FPR..hook up new line to the where the stock FPR line was.

My question is. will that way work? or is it pointless?

my other question is i believe the stock fuel pump in. i have a walbro 255 laying around and would like to install it. but would swapping pumps mess up the tune???
