Query: RB26 swap for IS250 AWD
*Before anyone gets excited, please note that I'm purely looking out of curiosity -- I've done a ton of research on F/I in these cars and motor swaps and am aware of the hassles.
I'm curious to know if anyone has ever tossed around the idea of mating an RB26 (DETT) to an AWD 250?
Would the motor even fit? What transmission would we mate it to - assuming it itself fits in the tunnel?
I'm assuming there would be a lot of fab work involved and tons of wiring headaches, but I'm wondering if anyone has actually seen this thru to the finish or anywhere close...
(Why not a 2jz you may ask? The RB26DETT already mates with a nissan AWD chassis and transmission, thus saving some "conversion" time -- plus keeping the AWD wouldn't hurt.)

Huh? A straight 6 in a V-6 chassis? I think you'd need to lengthen the car by a foot or two. Besides, the 350 or F are far better than a rusty old Datsun anyway. And if you want to go faster than that, get a sports car.

Assuming the RB26DETT fits in the engine bay, I'm curious to know what transmission one would mate to it (awd to be kept), and if that transmission would physically fit in the tunnel.
Again, put all the wiring, custom mounts, etc. hassles aside -- wondering about physical fit

And you'd think so, but from what I've been reading, the oilpan on the RB26 has presented a problem for many people swapping it into a new platform -- the AWD oilpan contains the front diff and axle shafts, so if you were to try "lining these up" with a Lexus IS's layout, I'm 99.999999% sure that wouldn't happen!
This would mean a complete rework of the front suspension and subframe.
