Install it anywhere you want or can in the mid-pipe or axle-back; I'd suggest somewhere where there is a single pipe, so you'll only have to purchase one E-cutout instead of two.

that was the plan but then I realized I wanted to keep it as stock as possible so I would like to keep the resonator. I thought about installing them before the cats but I'm not sure if there will be enough space. Opinion?

What does an E cutout do? Is that the switch people install to make their cars louder or quiter on the go?

Okay yeah I thought so. But how exactly do they work? And do they work on any exhaust?

I'm pretty sure they work on any exhaust, all your doing it cutting out a piece of the pipe and instal a y looking pipe that has a butterfly valve on the end of it which basically looks like the throttle body valve but is controlled electronically by a switch in the cabin

It's basically a throttle body with an electric motor; lets the exhaust gases pass through the opening (instead of the full exhaust system) with quite the increase in noise.
