Default OS Giken Super Lock LSD for me

Ordered up a Giken today from FIGS. Kit includes the lsd, new stiff bushings, bearings, retainer rings and fluids. Mike at FIGS was great. Thanks for Redspencer for coaching me in the right direction. This will make this car handle properly in the mechanical power to the ground department. Suspension is F Sport with Mich Super Pilots.

Seems most of my friends know about the Giken and use them in their Porsche and BMWs. The Asian crowd use them all the time and in general the Motorsport community has good things to say about their products. Should be fun project. Will post up pics of install and impressions.

I believe you are now the second person on the forums with an OS Giken on a Lexus IS350.

There's a small handful of IS-F owners with the OS Giken TCD and all have said that the differential exceeds their expectations.

The 2IS350 is a very capable and underrated platform. With the right suspension set-up, it can easily go toe-to-toe with its German counterparts. Adding an OS Giken TCD, the holy grail of LSDs, to the mix will elevate the handling performance to a whole new level!

Congrats! Super jealous!

If you're installing it yourself, please take pics along the way. This is one of those upgrades that I'd love to do in the future if funds allow.

Would you mind telling us the total cost of purchase/install? This is one of the mods I am contemplating for my 350... I understand that this is the best LSD money could get but the price is holding me off. I wish there was a less radical option out there. I see the Quaife ones, inferior but more affordable, come up from time to time but as they've been discontinued, the wait could be very long until a good one comes up. I feel like these would be more adequate to what I'm using the car for.

Parts (OS Giken LSD, 75w-250 Giken fluid, Solid differential ear mounts to prevent wheel hop) + install labor will be around $4k.

Running this differential may potentially cost more in the long run due to changing the fluids more often (every 3k miles if I recall correctly vs 30k with the OS Giken) and the possibility of having to rebuild the clutch differential after a certain # of miles.

Thanks guys. 4k is a lot though... I imagine it wouldn't be too far off the price of a supercharger kit, if/when they do eventually come out for our cars. F-Sport bits + supercharger + Giken LSD you'd have a heck of a beast.

You also wouldn't be too far off the price of a proper ISF at that point I'd imagine :/

^Good point about their recommended fluid change intervals; actually never read that before. However, there are quite a few fluids they recommend using that are quite a bit cheaper than the OS Giken's miracle fluid. LOL!
