Default How to tell Performance Exhaust

I'm picking up a used 2014 IS350 F-Sport on Friday and the owner seems to have just ticked every option he could get his hands on including trunk net, Wheel Locks Bumper Aplique, VGRS, ML, BSMS.

Considering his options happy build and the fact he traded it in on an M4 I have a sneaking suspicion he would have put the performance exhaust on too but cant seem to find any visual differentiation between it and stock.

Any help would be apreciated.

the tips are different. the fsport exhaust says "fsport" on them and are more round than oval. the stock mufflers are black and the fsport mufflers are polished steel. those are 2 quick ways to tell the difference.

WOW thanks for that insightful full bit of advice, why didnt i think of asking them instead of the internet!

It was traded in at a BMW dealership and they didnt know it had the BSMS or the VGRS option, Im pretty sure they arent going to be able to tell me what exhaust it has. Even with all that I did ask them to reach out to the previous owner. I contacted the dealer it was sold at and they said they could not release any information of previous service records. Since its a dealer installed option it wouldnt show up on the original build sheet.

Perfect thanks.

I asked the salesman to check the muffler color when he gets in this morning. The pictures are deceiving and some angles look perfectly circular and some angles look VERY oval

That's the F Sport exhaust (~$1300?), not stock. When you get an actual picture from the dealer, we could help you out better

Look for chrome basically (other than tips). Aftermarket and F-Sport have polished canisters and the stock system is coated black/gray.

wasn't obvious to the OP. I doubt it's the Fsport exhaust or they would jack up the price.

true, it wasn't obvious to the op, at first, but after all the inputs, descriptions, and a pic, to state the obvious...well you already know. if the dealer knew it had the f sport exhaust, i doubt they would drive the price up. granted ever other project car that you see at a dealer for sale, the exhaust isn't one of the "selling points."

Gees, take it easy man. I was just giving additional input for those unaware. Obviously the picture posted made it pretty clear, but once it's installed it's harder to see the whole canister easily. The tip shape and polished canister make it easy to recognize once it's been installed tho. Just tryin' to help here lol.
